THE WALL

In Washington DC stands a black granite wall,

A tribute to those who in battle did fall.

On this wall, over fifty eight thousand names,

Of those who gave all in lifes deadliest game.

They gave their lives that others may live,

But how many know just what a soldier gives?

From all walks of life these brave men came,

Now they live in this wall, just another cold name.

In November each year, a pilgrimage is made,

By those paying tribute to their fallen comrades.

At this black granite wall, strong men have cried,

Grieving at last for friends who have died.

The doctors and nurses who also gave their all,

Their names too can be found on this black wall.
